Ceremony for Scotty Orcutt Way


There will be a ceremony for a commemorative street sign called Scotty Orcutt Way Friday  October 16th, 2015 at noon on the northeast corner of 52nd and Maple St.



The ceremony will be outside Benson High School. The commemorative signs will be between 52nd and Maple to 52nd and Bedford. All are welcome. 


There will also be a breakfast fundraiser to help defray the costs of signs, at the American Legion at 78th and Davenport St. on Sunday October 4th 10-1. 








 Edward Scotty Orcutt was inducted into the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame on February 9th 2014, in Beatrice Nebraska@ Aunt Mary's Resturant and Events Center@ 8th and Court Streets, the Home of the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame, and their displays. Also inducted were Bob Schneider, York,Ne. Player, Ron Kelley, Falls City,Ne.,player, Jeff Hunter Omaha, player, Glen"Red"Neujahr. York,Ne,player and Mickey Stubblefield, McCook,Ne.,player. The Major league player Brian Holman from the Seattle Mariners was guest speaker. What an inspirational message to the participants that attended.Thanks to the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame inductee board , they did a great job as usual, the auctioneers, and finally to Aunt Mary's Resturant and employees, for all their help and, Great Food. 


Edward Scotty Orcutt was inducted into the OPS Sports Hall of Fame on Nov. 23rd 2013.This was the Eighth Annual Athletic Hall of Fame. The other inductees were Steve Spurlock, Sarah Fredstrom Seacrest, Jackie Washington, Vern Ekfelt, Roy Katskee, Cletus Fisher, David Washington, Denise & Wally Knight, and Duane Haith. Congratulations to all and The Omaha Public Schools and There Hall of Fame Committee. It was a Great Time. 




        Welcome to Coach Scotty Orcutt's website. This website is currently under constuction and some more information should be available real soon. This is a website honoring Scotty Orcutt past coach of Benson High School. We will be featuring other coaches and players during the 1940s, 1950s.and 1960s, that was once one of Omaha's and Nebraska's history of some of the best that layed the foundation of Omaha's history in baseball and basketball. There were some great coaches and players throughout the history during those decades. As we go along we will honor some current players and coaches which have contributed to our history of Omaha. I gladly will with your help complete this adventure of Omaha and its great history. Also, we will feature some other sports that athletes have contributed such as gymnastics ,wrestling, football, swimming, track and other sports. It will take awhile. please send your stories and pictures to or call me at 402-214-4055. I want to thank Winthrop High School in Winthrop, Mass., where my father graduated from in 1929. The University of Nebraska which he attended 1930-1938,with a Masters Degree and was an assistant coach of baseball at UNL. Benson High Scool in Omaha which he taught and coached for 32 years,  baseball,basketball, football and other sports, John and Ron Johnette, Bob Sweet, Don Serles, Grant Simmons, Bob Witte, John Stella, Bob Harden,Bob Allen,George Jones, Herb Kefler( That holds the Cornie Collins-Scotty Orcutt All Star baseball Game each year, by the way this will be the 40th year), I especially would like thank Betty Mears for her help supplying Don Mears yearbooks through the Underwood High school years, Max Osborn in Denver,  Orvale Widick of Farnam. Nebraska, Betty Hoppe-Stevens of Farnam, Nebraska ,and all those who have helped throughout the years, and others that have contributed there time. My Thanks.
